Practical Information

Where to stay, how to get there and more

Getting there

The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is located in South Brisbane, a few minutes’ walk from Brisbane’s central business district (over the Victoria Street Bridge).

The conference is being held in the Boulevard Auditorium, on the Grey St (river) side of the centre. The Gala Dinner is in a separate ballroom on the same level.

It is around 30 minutes by car from Brisbane International Airport.

Alternatively, the AirTrain connects to South Brisbane station, a short walk to BCEC and the two hotels below.

Networking events

If you are in Brisbane on the evening of Wednesday 9 August, join us for the pre-conference Cocktail Reception at the Soleil Pool Deck, Rydges South Bank Hotel, from 6.30pm to 8pm.

This is co-hosted with the Lowy Institute’s Aus-PNG Network.

During the conference itself, drinks will be served in the Expo Plus area at 5pm on Day One.

We also have an expanded networking area in the Expo Plus area. The ‘Networking Lounge’ is sponsored by Santos.

Gala dinner

The Gala Dinner will start from 6.30pm on the evening of Day 1 (Thursday 10 August) in the Boulevard Room banquet hall on the same level as the conference.

We are delighted to announce that our special guest for the evening will be Papua New Guinea Kumuls and Brisbane Broncos legend, David Mead (pictured).

This year’s menu is Asian-themed, specially created by BCEC’s head chef and accompanied by matching wines.

Attire is the same as for the conference (business casual).

This event is now sold out.
